[Water Wednesday] Wintery Edition

This past weekend, we had record-breaking temperatures where I live in South Florida. We put a bowl of water out, and it froze overnight— a true novelty here.

It seems that most of the country is hunkered down, enduring what’s turning out to be quite the winter. I have family in reporting -12 degrees F in Pennsylvania, nearly a foot of snow in Maryland, and friends in the Midwest checking in with -20.

It’s cold, and venturing outside feels a bit like venturing into a foreign land with teeth that sink through your clothes.

We’ve passed the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox, but the days still feel short and this, coupled with the frigid temperatures, is a wonderful invitation to rest.

Whether it’s the weather, the season, or just the ick that keeps flying around, my own energy has been low.

I’m craving warmth and quiet.

Slow time with my family.

Space to reflect on all I’m learning, and what I want to share with others (including you!)

Instead of fighting the slow, I’ve decided to embrace it, to honor what I’m feeling.

Bears and groundhogs are hibernating. Why can’t we do our own version?

The cold has a way of driving us inside— not just into our homes, but into ourselves. When the world is a bit slower, we can move slower too, resting and restoring our energy.

Spring is coming. Now is a time to honor the season within.

Big hugs,
Kara

Getting outside is vital to our health and the health of the planet. The cool part is, to reap the benefits, you only need a few minutes a day. This course is designed to be fun and easy to do-- and perhaps spark an adventure or two.
